The United States Department of State has selected the Milanof-Schock Library of Mount Joy, PA to be among the first public libraries to become a Passport Acceptance Agency in Pennsylvania.

.

As a Passport Acceptance Agency, the Library is officially authorized to:

.

  • Provide passport applications and related forms;
  • Explain service options;
  • Review applications for completeness;
  • Record and verify applicant identification;
  • Collect citizenship evidence and fees;
  • Administer oaths and witness signatures; and
  • Forward applications, citizenship evidence, and fees to the Federal Government on a daily basis.

.

The Milanof-Schock Library now offers official passport application services to residents of western Lancaster County who previously had to travel to Lancaster City, Harrisburg, or York.  The Library's evening, Saturday and Sunday hours also allow working people to take care of passport applications during off work periods.  This was not previously possible at the limited number of Post Office Passport Acceptance Agencies which function only during limited weekday daytime hours.
